Oriental & Area Rug Cleaning
In addition to being your expert carpet cleaning company, Carpet Cleaning 352 also has the skill to clean your beautiful Oriental, Persian or Area rugs. We are IICRC certified specialists who know how to treat various rugs, such as polyester, jute, cotton, sisal, acrylic, nylon, silk, or wool fabrics. Rug cleaning techniques depend on the make-up of the fabric. If the fabric is natural or synthetic, the difference can be a major factor when you are determining which cleaning products and techniques to use.
Before we do anything to your rug, we first determine the type of rug you have. We will examine how the rug was woven together, if glue was used to hold the rug together, the fabric type, and the type of dye used for coloring the fabric. Doing this will allow us to use the proper cleaning solutions that will be tough on soil but not on your rug. Call Carpet Cleaning 352 today at 352-631-7100, to schedule your Oriental, Persian or Area rug cleaning, or fill out our convenient form and we will get back to as soon as possible. AREA RUGSArea rugs are the very distant cousin of the oriental rug. In most cases, area rugs are machine made. Area rugs are machine-made rugs that are woven on electronic computer assisted looms. A sophisticated machine process is used to create the pile. Typically, synthetic yarn is most commonly used, but some of the best machine-made rugs are made from wool, and it’s often very difficult to tell from handmade rugs. Design and color variations are often programmed into the designs. Hand knotted fringes are even added for a more handmade look.

Our Cleaning Process
Our carpet cleaners make a complete examination of the Oriental rug to determine what fabrics they are made of. This enables them to determine exactly how they will clean the rug. This may also require a certain test to ensure they are absolutely sure of the fibers before they put any products on them. A large portion of what is found in rugs is soil. This means that when it becomes wet, it will immediately produce mud. This makes it difficult to clean. This is why our cleaners will put it through dusting. It removes any of the excess particles. It is later shampooed and eventually placed in a centrifuge for drying. Once it has completely dried, we will rest the nap and hang it up to dry thoroughly. If there is the presence of pet odors or stains, a special enzyme is used and this requires it to sit for up to 24 hours to be most effective.

History of Oriental Rugs
Oriental rugs were traditionally made in the Far and Middle East. Oriental rugs that are genuine come from places like Afghanistan, China, Turkey, Tibet, Pakistan, Nepal, India, and Iran. The Balkan countries of Romania and Albania also make oriental rugs. Oriental rugs are also found in Northern African countries, like Morocco and Egypt. They are hand-knotted and flat woven.
The Story Behind the Patterns and Colors of Oriental Rugs:
Hand-knotted by nomadic tribes or families from a more urban area, oriental rugs tell the story behind the family’s history. Color was used to designate a wedding, a hunt, famine or perhaps a death in the family. If the oriental rug had a distinctly floral pattern it means that the family was from an urban area vs. a geometric pattern, which would indicate that the rug was made by a tribe. Prayer rugs have a very distinct single direction pattern.
